Biographical cards (5" x 7") of men and women serving in World War I and World War II contain, in narrative form: family information, education, previous employment, dates of entering the service, branch of service, training, rank, citations and dates of discharge or dates of casualties. Information on cards is in varying degrees of completeness. Cards alphabetized by last name in the following sequences: WWI, WWII and those missing in action or killed. (Cont.) Misc. materials, all relating to WWI, include: correspondence; rosters; schedules for ceremonies; schedules for Memorial Day and July 4th parades; commendation notices; discharge notices; etc.

In 1942 the desirability of gathering information about Concord people in military service and about civilian activities in connection with the War became apparent to the Town Moderator, Mr. Marvin C. At a town meeting held Mar. 3, 1947 the Concord War History Committee was created. Its members were chosen by the Town Moderator; Miss Sarah R. Bartlett, Librarian of the Concord Free Public Library, was elected chairman. The purpose of this Committee was to compile war records of Concord men and women who served in World War I and World War II; and, when completed, to publish the records in book form. The Committee engaged the services of Mrs. Bernice C. Seavey to compile the data....
