In 1942 the desirability of gathering information about Concord people in military service and about civilian activities in connection with the War became apparent to the Town Moderator, Mr. Marvin C. At a town meeting held Mar. 3, 1947 the Concord War History Committee was created. Its members were chosen by the Town Moderator; Miss Sarah R. Bartlett, Librarian of the Concord Free Public Library, was elected chairman. The purpose of this Committee was to compile war records of Concord men and women who served in World War I and World War II; and, when completed, to publish the records in book form.
